Gulfstream Aerospace in Westfield, MA seeks an Avionics/Electrical Technician 3 to perform testing, troubleshooting, and repairs of avionics and aircraft systems. You will work on defect-free installations, use test equipment, and ensure compliance with engineering changes and safety protocols.

Requires five years in avionics/electrical work; HS diploma or GED; A&P, FCC, or NCATT preferred. This full-time role involves various shifts and up to 25% travel, with a comprehensive benefits package.

Job description

Avionics/Electrical Technician 3 – GAC Westfield

Position Purpose: Provides technical expertise while performing various operational, functional tests and repairs of avionics/electronic aircraft equipment and systems to ensure a defect‑free aircraft. Provides superior technical expertise in testing, troubleshooting and repairing system discrepancies to minimize schedule impact.

Compensation

Base rate: $34.02 – $39.69 per hour. Final compensation determined by qualifications, knowledge, experience, location, and schedule.

Education & Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required. Five years’ experience in an avionics/electrical career field. Two years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics may offset two years of experience. A&P license, FCC license or NCATT certification preferred.

Job Description
  • Demonstrate superior technical skills in avionics and aircraft systems operational testing and troubleshooting.
  • Teach the installation and functional testing of electrical/avionics components and systems per engineering specifications, drawings, and maintenance manuals, ensuring defect‑free systems.
  • Ensure quality and efficiency of all installations; troubleshoot and teach troubleshooting processes to provide timely, quality repairs of malfunctioning systems.
  • Repair or replace defective components and wiring, ensuring conformity; use acceptable practices such as splicing, soldering, and pinning wiring.
  • Oversee performance and compliance with engineering changes and modifications.
  • Set up and operate test equipment; conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability.
  • Maintain daily logs and documentation for all work performed.
  • Pre‑inspect work of others before submission to inspection to reduce rework.
  • Provide knowledge and technical expertise in testing and maintaining test equipment and electronic systems.
  • Enforce company’s FOD, tool control, 5‑S, and safety regulations.
  • Adapt to sudden schedule changes.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines concerning projects.
Additional Functions
  • Teach installation and functional testing of components and systems as required.
  • Self‑inspection capability for all avionics testing functions in applicable areas.
  • Support aircraft certification and final phase testing, including flight tests, as required.
Other Requirements
  • Preferred proficiency in troubleshooting other aircraft systems, such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, environmental controls, or structural installations and repairs.
  • APU run qualification and engine run qualification preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematic diagrams.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
