Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Avionics/Electronics Aircraft Mechanic I in Savannah, GA. You will perform maintenance checks across flight controls, avionics, and cryptographic equipment, diagnose issues, and maintain complex electronic systems in the hangar or outdoor environments.

Candidate must hold a valid A&P license or meet the experience requirements (3 years maintenance, including rotary wing and MDS), and obtain necessary facility credentials. Shadowed tools must be provided by the applicant.

  • Valid up-to-date A&P license.
  • 3 years aviation maintenance experience, 2 years rotary wing, 2 years on the assigned MDS.
  • Experience within the six most recent years.
  • Must obtain facility credentials; US Citizenship required for credentials/authorization.
  • Provide own shadowed/etched tools and toolbox.

Job description

Avionics/Electronics Aircraft Mechanic I
  • Performing maintenance checks on aircraft flight controls, stabilization systems, avionics and controlled cryptographic equipment.
  • Maintaining common/special tools and equipment.
  • Troubleshooting equipment and diagnose repairs.
  • Maintaining and testing of avionics and electrical systems with integration of complex software and hardware, including electrical power generation and distribution systems, integrated avionics systems and displaces, communication and navigation systems, mission equipment integration, sensors, and vehicle health monitoring systems.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid up-to-date A&P license.
  • If no A&P license, shall have Three (3) years aviation maintenance experience, Two (2) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and Two (2) years on the assigned MDS.
  • All experience must be within the Six (6) most recent years.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for a facility credentials/authorization at the work location.
  • Tools are Required; must provide own shadowed/etched Tools and Tool box.
Knowledge And Skills
  • Possess good communication skills; be adaptable, diversified and capable of troubleshooting entire aircraft system.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical and associated systems principles to complete properly all probable work tasks.
  • Knowledge of Quality Control, Production and Supply procedures required to perform job assignment.
  • Able to properly use a variety of common hand tools and measuring devices such as gauges, torque wrenches and scales and test, measurement and diagnostic equipment related to specific aircraft models.
  • Able to determine when faulty systems or assemblies can be corrected through repair of replacement of new parts and the nature and extent of repair required.
  • Must have skill in reading, applying and interpreting technical data.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  • Frequently lift parts and equipment up to 20 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Most heavy lifting is accomplished through the use of mechanical devices.
  • May work in Aircraft maintenance hangar or outside.
  • May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions and rudimentary infrastructure.
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from turbine and jet engine aircraft. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; may be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts.
