Job summary

Shield AI is seeking a Staff Industrial Engineer, Sustainment Analytics, to lead data-driven sustainment decisions by integrating maintenance, FRACAS, failure and repair, supply-chain, and fleet data.

You will translate insights into structured analyses, trade studies, and actionable recommendations that optimize maintenance levels, spares, manpower, and lifecycle cost, improving fleet readiness and total cost of ownership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Data Analytics, or related field (equivalent practical experience considered).
• 5+ years in industrial engineering, sustainment, logistics, or defense-orientated environments.
• Experience using maintenance, reliability, inventory, supply-chain, and fleet data to drive quantitative analyses and recommendations.
• Experience performing sustainment trade studies (repair-versus-replace, make-versus-buy) and building structured models.
• Proficiency with SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau, Excel, R, MATLAB or similar tools for data analysis and reporting.
• Ability to integrate technical, operational, supply-chain, labor, and financial inputs into practical sustainment recommendations.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills; able to drive decisions without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Own sustainment decision analysis for fielded aircraft systems including maintenance-level determinations and spares optimization.
• Build and maintain integrated fleet-readiness models linking reliability, maintenance demand, inventory, and cost to readiness.
• Develop repair-versus-replace and repair-network business cases considering repair yield, labor, and lifecycle cost.
• Analyze maintenance records, failure history, and logistics data to identify bottlenecks, readiness risks, and high-value opportunities.
• Develop demand forecasts, spares recommendations, and provisioning strategies using failure rates and deployment requirements.
• Perform manpower, workload, capacity, and skill-mix analyses to improve repair throughput.
• Evaluate investments in test equipment, tooling, and facilities for readiness impact and ROI.
• Create lifecycle-cost models and economic trade studies for sustainment planning.
• Apply Pareto, trend, and scenario analyses to prioritize actions for fleet availability and cost reduction.
• Translate analyses into clear recommendations and executive-ready decision packages.
