Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Aircraft Sheetmetal Mechanic I in New London, Connecticut to fabricate, install, and maintain aircraft sheet metal parts and assemblies. You will read blueprints, develop templates, and use brakes, punches, and drills to form and assemble components.

The role requires an up-to-date A&P license or equivalent aviation maintenance experience, plus tool ownership and the ability to obtain facility credentials. Strong attention to safety and quality is essential.

Qualifications

• Valid up-to-date A&P license.
• If no A&P license, 3 years aviation maintenance experience, 2 years rotary wing experience, and 2 years on the assigned MDS (Sheetmetal).
• All experience must be within the six most recent years.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for a facility credentials/authorization at the work location.
• Tools are Required; Must possess own shadowed/etched tools & toolbox.

Responsibilities

• Read and analyze work requests and specifications.
• Develop and draw working sketches from prints or data.
• Manufacture and fabricate aircraft sheet metal parts and assemblies.
• Develop parts/templates from prints to produce repair parts not readily available.
• Form metal using brakes, punches, drills, and related tools.
• Finish edges and assemble components with rivets, screws, and bolts.
• Ensure parts meet quality standards per specifications.
• Follow safety procedures and PPE requirements.
