Job summary

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) seeks Federal Air Marshals in Springfield to protect commercial flights from terrorism and other threats. The role requires discretion, sound judgment, physical readiness, and firearms proficiency, with assignments on air and ground.

Applicants may be assigned to domestic or international flights; final placement depends on agency needs and may differ from preferred locations. Travel and irregular hours are expected, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible experience or a bachelor’s degree or higher, or a qualifying combination.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national.
• Must obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Protect commercial passenger flights from terrorist activity, aircraft piracy, and other threats.
• Work discreetly aboard domestic and international flights.
• Assess situations and respond to threats with limited backup.
• Carry a firearm and maintain firearms proficiency.
• Conduct law enforcement, investigative, analytical, and advisory activities.
• Identify witnesses or suspects when required.
• Make arrests and execute warrants within authority.
• Participate in multi-agency operations with federal, state, and local partners.
• Support ground-based transportation-security and counterterrorism missions.
• Perform other specialized assignments, including Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems operations.
