Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of meteorological data from satellites, radar, models and observations to produce aviation forecasts and briefings.
  • Deliver weather updates and guidance to internal stakeholders before and during flights, including turbulence, icing and other hazards.
  • Monitor current weather conditions and provide timely updates to operations staff.
  • Monitor the national airspace system status and communicate details as necessary.
  • Evaluate weather risks and traffic management challenges for flight planning and scheduling to operations.
  • Collaborate with Flight Planning to provide real-time weather and ATC reroute information for safe routing.
  • Communicate complex meteorological information clearly to managers and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain relationships with NBAA's Air Traffic Services and external vendors.
  • Stay current with advances in meteorological tech, traffic management programs, and industry best practices

As a Flexjet Aviation Meteorologist, you will be responsible for providing accurate and reliable weather forecasts in addition to communicating traffic management initiatives and delays. Your primary goal will be to ensure the safe and efficient operation of flights by delivering timely and tailored weather and air traffic information to several departments, including Owner Services, Operations, and Flight.

Responsibilities

Conduct in-depth analysis of meteorological data from a variety of sources, including satellite and radar imagery, numerical weather models, and surface observations to produce aviation-specific forecasts and briefings.

Deliver comprehensive weather updates and guidance to internal stakeholders before and during flights, providing information on turbulence, icing, thunderstorms, and other weather-related hazards.

Monitor current weather conditions and provide timely updates to operations staff as necessary.

Monitor the current national airspace system status and communicate those details as necessary.

Evaluate weather risks and traffic management challenges to provide recommendations regarding flight planning and scheduling to Operations.

Collaborate closely with members in Flight Planning to provide real-time weather as well as ATC required reroute information to facilitate safe and efficient routing of flights.

Communicate complex meteorological and traffic flow information effectively to non-technical stakeholders, such as managers, in a confident, clear and concise manner.

Maintain a close working relationship with NBAA’s Air Traffic Services and other external vendors/stakeholders.

Stay up to date with advances in meteorological technology, traffic management programs, and industry best practices.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a related field, with a solid foundation in meteorological principles and practices.

FAA Aircraft Dispatcher License, FAA Commercial Pilot, Instrument Pilot, or Airline Transport Pilot ratings.

Demonstrated expertise in aviation meteorology and a deep understanding of its applications to flight operations.

Proficiency in the use of meteorological software and tools, such as weather models, radar, and satellite imagery.

Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to convey complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a range of audiences.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with tight deadlines.

Knowledge of aviation regulations and safety procedures.

Flexibility and availability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a related field.

Professional certification, such as the Certified Consulting Meteorologist (CCM) or Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM).

Experience working in an aviation-related field.

Familiarity with international aviation regulations and practices.
