Job summary

Pegasus Aviation Services, an Akima company, is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Assistant to perform high-quality maintenance on transport category aircraft and to support line maintenance activities. The role leads to an FAA aircraft maintenance technician license upon program completion.

Applicants must be a NANA shareholder or descendant, or spouse, and will be considered for a University of Alaska, Anchorage program with Pegasus assistance.

Qualifications

  • Must submit an application and be accepted into the University of Alaska, Anchorage Aviation Technology Certificate Program. Pegasus will assist with this process.
  • Background check including FBI fingerprints, criminal history, and pre-employment drug test is required.
  • Must be willing to be included in DOT random drug testing pool.
  • Must work cohesively as part of a team with multilevel guidance and supervision.
  • Willing to work long hours in inclement weather while following regulatory specs and guidance.
  • Good communication skills are required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have right to work in the U.S.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to fluently read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Friendly, outgoing personality; able to work under stress and tight time constraints.
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented; able to work nights/weekends/holidays.

  • Aid with line maintenance services on transport category aircraft and routine/non-routine tasks.
  • Complete maintenance records accurately and promptly.
  • Interpret technical manuals, drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Operate ground handling equipment used to service aircraft.
  • Maintain a clean, presentable work area.
  • Support safety programs to include AS9100, OSHA and EPA guidelines.
  • Perform tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain professional appearance and attitude.
  • Work with reliability and dependability to meet schedules.
  • Other duties as assigned.

As an Aircraft Maintenance Assistant, you will play a vital role in performing high-quality aircraft maintenance on a variety of transport category aircraft. Responsibilities
  • Aid with various line maintenance related services of transport category aircraft, along with non-routine and routine line maintenance activities.
  • Complete all required maintenance records in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, blueprints and schematics.
  • Operate all related ground handling equipment utilized to service the aircraft.
  • Present a clean and neat work area to our customers.
  • Support all company policies and safety programs to include AS9100, OSHA and EPA guidelines.
  • Performing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional appearance and attitude.

Physical Demands

Moderate

  • Must be able to lift, carry, move, push, pull and install 50 lb components unassisted, have acceptable vision, hearing, and be willing to wear all required safety equipment. (Personal Protective Equipment – PPE) Regularly required to use hands, talk, hear, bend, stoop, kneel, and is frequently required to stand, walk.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
  • This position is usually working outside and is exposed to all types of weather conditions with a seasonal range of temperatures which include rain, snow, wind and extreme temperatures.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can vary dramatically depending on location and activity. Occasionally high noise levels exist where hearing protection is required and provided.
