Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) is seeking a Material Planner III to align materials and schedules with production goals in a fast-paced aviation maintenance environment. You will forecast requirements, coordinate with Engineering, Materials, and Maintenance, and ensure parts and data are available before work starts.

You will mentor less-experienced planners, analyze maintenance program data, and support audits while maintaining FAA compliance and tracking systems.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; degree preferred in Aviation Maintenance or related field.
  • 4+ years aviation maintenance planning experience.
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations and aircraft maintenance programs.
  • Experience with maintenance tracking and MRO software.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and issue maintenance work packages, task cards, and routings for inspections and repairs.
  • Forecast long-range maintenance requirements based on utilization and directives.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Materials, Maintenance, and QA to ensure parts and data are available.
  • Maintain maintenance tracking systems and reflect current aircraft status.
  • Present forecasts and status reports to leadership.
  • Support audits and regulatory inspections with complete documentation.

Are you experienced in material planning, supply management, and manufacturing processes? Do you thrive in fast-paced environments? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! As a Material Planner III, you will ensure that materials and schedules are aligned with production goals. Your extensive experience will help optimize supply chain operations, prevent material shortages, and drive efficiencies across the board. You will guide less experienced planners and collaborate with high-level stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, review, and issue detailed maintenance work packages, task cards, and job routings for scheduled inspections (A/B/C/D checks), unscheduled repairs, and modifications.
  • Forecast and plan long-range maintenance requirements based on aircraft utilization, maintenance program intervals, and regulatory directives (ADs/SBs).
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Materials/Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Quality Assurance to ensure parts, tooling, and technical data are available prior to work execution.
  • Maintain and update maintenance tracking systems to reflect current aircraft status and upcoming requirements.
  • Analyze maintenance program data to identify trends, optimize task packaging, and support planned maintenance and modification requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, and company/customer maintenance directives.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor to other planners/stakeholders, providing guidance on complex planning scenarios.
  • Participate in maintenance program reviews, reliability meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and present maintenance forecasts, capacity plans, and status reports to leadership.
  • Support audits and regulatory inspections by ensuring accurate and complete maintenance records/documentation.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Maintenance, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 4+ years of aviation maintenance planning experience or related field.
  • Strong working knowledge of FAA regulations and aircraft maintenance programs.
  • Proficiency with maintenance tracking and MRO software systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, ADs, SBs, and other technical documentation.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience with Boeing 747-8 maintenance activities.
  • A&P (Airframe & Powerplant) certification strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in a Part 145 repair station or airline maintenance planning environment.
  • Familiarity with reliability programs and continuing analysis & surveillance systems (CASS).
Essential Functions:
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Requires standing for a significant portion of the work shift.
  • Ability to work in a noisy manufacturing environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Must be able to work in an office or hybrid environment.
