Job summary

The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) seeks an experienced Labor Relations Counsel for its Dallas–Fort Worth (Euless), Texas office. You will apply deep knowledge of labor laws and ALPA policies to support pilot governing bodies and members on employment matters, including negotiations, contract administration, and case management.

Qualified candidates have a JD or LLM, bar admission, and at least five years of labor law experience (fifteen+ preferred).

Qualifications

  • JD or LLM from an approved school of law.
  • Bar in good standing.
  • Five years of labor law and litigation experience; fifteen+ preferred.
  • Experience in collective bargaining, grievance and arbitration.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication.
  • Ability to organize long‑term projects.
  • Independent judgment under time pressure.
  • Knowledge of the Railway Labor Act and FARs preferred.
  • Proficiency with online legal research (Westlaw or equivalent).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Advise pilot governing bodies and individual members on employment matters.
  • Assist in negotiations and coordinate activities during negotiations; communicate with all stakeholders.
  • Monitor and administer contracts; manage FAA actions against pilots.
  • Prepare summaries of NTSB hearings; handle case management functions.
  • May contribute to national projects in the Washington, DC area; respond to urgent inquiries as needed.
