Placements24 is seeking an Aviation Ground Support Equipment Technician to maintain and repair airport GSE. The role ensures baggage loaders, tugs, belt loaders, and de-icing units operate safely and efficiently, supporting timely aircraft turnaround.

The technician will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, and document all repairs. A strong focus on safety and accuracy in a busy airport environment is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a mechanic or technician with heavy machinery or aviation ground equipment.
  • Strong diagnostic skills in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of airport safety procedures and equipment handling.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on GSE including tugs, loaders, and de-icers.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using manuals and tools.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and parts used.
  • Respond promptly to malfunctions to minimize delays in aircraft turnaround.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proficient and reliable Aviation Ground Support Equipment Technician to maintain and repair the specialized machinery used at airports. This essential role ensures that all ground support equipment, including baggage loaders, tugs, belt loaders, and de-icing units, operates safely and efficiently. You will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and conducting repairs to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity. Working in an airport environment requires a commitment to safety and precision, collaborating with other ground operations staff to keep aircraft turnaround times optimal. This is a critical position for the smooth functioning of airport operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on various ground support equipment (GSE) .
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems with GSE.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools, service manuals, and schematics to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with safety regulations and manufacturer specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and parts used.
  • Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions to minimize operational delays.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a mechanic or technician, with specific experience in maintaining heavy machinery or aviation ground equipment .
  • Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures related to airport operations and equipment handling.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain airport security clearance.
