Job description

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a technical and practice area manager within our Aviation Group. The role coordinates work with Project Managers to assign technical resources to projects in a manner that positively impacts the business and employee experience. It involves ensuring direct reports’ utilization and billable rates are acceptable, working on complex airport projects, maintaining client relationships, and serving as a technical design lead on projects as well as the technical discipline manager for an assigned geographic region. The position reports directly to the Aviation Practice Leader.

Responsibilities
  • Manages and provides engineering production leadership for a geographic region within the aviation market, facilitating a collaborative work environment and advancing initiatives that support a positive employee experience.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for airport design and planning projects. Provides technical consulting on program objectives and requirements.
  • Provides technical input on proposals and Project Management Plans to deliver accurate estimates for projects or programs.
  • Acts as a technical lead for larger or complex airport projects as required.
  • Reviews operational procedures to ensure compliance with applicable policies and performance measures.
  • Reviews and provides feedback on engineers’ specifications, documents, drawings, plans, and reports; may complete these items if needed.
  • Ensures completion and delivery of engineering documents and bid packages within the assigned geographic region.
  • Attends meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments.
  • Works to reduce department projects costs to drive competitive status.
  • Develops and builds positive relationships with clients, direct reports, officials, contractors, and others.
  • Supports and implements strategic and business planning activities.
  • Attends various leadership meetings.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
Education & Experience Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience designing and delivering construction documents for general and commercial airport projects.
  • Registered Professional Engineer.
  • Solid technical knowledge working on airport projects.
  • Good rapport with State Aeronautics agencies and the Federal Aviation Administration.
  • Keeps informed of new methods and developments affecting the organization.
  • Effectively collaborates with business and teams to meet defined objectives.
  • Effectively manages and motivates employees.
  • Sets priorities and reconciles information from competing interests.
