Job summary

Astro Mechanica is seeking an Aviation Engine Technician to join our growing team. You will help build an engine repair station for innovative jet engine applications from the ground up and develop internal processes on inspection and alterations alongside engineering.

You will work as the first certified jet mechanic at a jet engine company, shaping program cadence, tooling, and workflows while maintaining high safety and quality standards across manufacturing and test operations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience at an MRO facility (civil/military)
• FAA A&P or repairman certificate with 14 CFR Part 145 experience
• FAA Inspection Authorization (IA)
• Hands-on with IAE V2500, GE CFM56 engines
• Experience troubleshooting across many applications
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, maintenance manuals, OEM docs
• Flexible to work in a fast-paced environment and drive improvements
• Capable of lifting 35 pounds and standing long periods

Responsibilities

• Inspect engines after use for corrosion, wear, and prior damage and determine restoration approach
• Establish inspection criteria and acceptance standards and refine over time
• Collaborate with engineering and review deviations from planned procedures during complex builds
• Maintain high quality through documentation, traceability, and cleanliness
• Train other technicians on inspection standards as the program scales
• Conduct test facility and equipment maintenance
• Work efficiently in a safe and professional manner
