AV Technician (Audio Focus)

Step into a hands-on AV role supporting a leading technology company's corporate campus, where you will mix live audio for events, live streams, and the weekly all-hands meeting, and keep the rest of the campus running through conference room support, break/fix, ticketing, and new control room builds. This is a full-time, on-site position in Menlo Park, CA. Strong live audio skills are central to this role, and the right person brings a do-it-all attitude across video, conference rooms, and infrastructure.

Candidates must currently reside within a commutable distance of Menlo Park, Ca to be considered.

Live Events & Audio
  • Set up, operate, and mix audio for internal events, live streams, and the all-hands meeting every Friday.
  • Run a stream/broadcast mix and an in-house mix at the same time on Yamaha DM3 and DM7 consoles.
  • Manage gain structure, EQ, and mic technique to keep the house mix free of feedback while delivering a balanced program feed to the stream.
  • Configure and manage Shure ULX-D and Axient Digital (AXD) wireless systems, including frequency coordination, battery management, and mic placement on presenters.
  • Route audio across Dante networks in Dante Controller, including device setup and troubleshooting on link-local networks.
  • Deploy and position QSC K8 and K12 powered speakers for in-room PA.
  • Run audio, video, and lighting checks before every event and confirm all equipment is ready before start time.
  • Provide in-room AV support during events and elevate issues quickly when needed.
Conference Rooms & Break/Fix
  • Perform routine AV system checks in executive and conference rooms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve conference room AV issues and break/fix requests.
  • Work AV support tickets through to resolution and keep ticket records current.
  • Coordinate with the AV Supervisor and IT teams on system-level issues that need escalation.
Infrastructure & Control Room Builds
  • Support the build-out of new control rooms and AV spaces, including equipment installation, cabling, and system testing.
  • Learn the campus AV infrastructure and how signal flows across rooms and venues.
  • Keep AV areas organized and clean, with all cabling properly managed.
Scheduling & Logistics
  • Track AV needs for upcoming meetings and events and support room setup logistics.
  • Keep documentation current on equipment usage and maintenance logs.
  • Support gear labeling, inventory management, and minor equipment moves.
  • Complete room resets and reconfigurations as directed by AV leadership.

Other projects or tasks may be assigned as needed.

What You Bring
  • Do-It-All Attitude: You jump into whatever the day needs, from a live mix to a conference room ticket to a control room build, and you treat unfamiliar systems as something to learn, not something outside your job description.
  • Problem Solving: You diagnose and resolve AV issues quickly, both in daily operations and in the middle of a live event.
  • Composure Under Pressure: You stay steady and solutions-focused in high-visibility moments.
  • Attention to Detail: Your spaces are organized, your cables are managed, and your documentation is current.
  • Communication: You communicate clearly with stakeholders, AV teams, and IT support, both in person and in writing.
  • Collaboration: You work well with AV leadership, IT teams, and outside vendors.
Required Experience
  • 3 or more years of hands-on experience as an AV Technician or AV Engineer in corporate, live event, or broadcast environments, including live audio mixing.
  • Strong understanding of audio and video signal flow.
  • Proven ability to run a stream/broadcast mix and an in-house mix at the same time from one console, with strong gain-before-feedback skills.
  • Hands-on experience mixing on Yamaha digital audio consoles (DM3, DM7, CL, QL, or TF series).
  • Working knowledge of Dante audio networking, including routing in Dante Controller and operating on link-local networks.
  • Experience with Shure ULX-D and Axient Digital (AXD) wireless microphone systems, including frequency coordination.
  • Experience deploying portable PA systems such as QSC K8 and K12 powered speakers.
  • Experience troubleshooting conference room AV systems, including video conferencing platforms, displays, projectors, and room control.
  • Experience with ticketing and collaboration tools such as Zendesk, Monday.com, and Slack.
Preferred Qualifications
  • In-house corporate AV experience.
  • Direct experience on Yamaha DM3 and DM7 consoles.
  • Experience on larger-format show consoles such as Yamaha RIVAGE PM, DiGiCo, or Avid S6L.
  • Experience supporting AV installations or control room builds.
  • Dante Certification (Level 1, 2, or 3).
  • Experience with Shure Wireless Workbench for RF scanning and coordination.
  • Experience with Ross Ultrix routers or Ross Acuity production switchers.
  • Familiarity with Blackmagic, Clear-Com, or similar AV hardware.
  • Experience with LED walls, video routers, and projection systems.
  • Basic knowledge of lighting consoles such as ETC ColorSource.
  • Hands-on use of streaming software.
  • Bachelor’s degree, AV certifications such as AVIXA CTS, or trade school training.
Role Details
  • This is a full-time, on-site position.
  • Local travel is required.
Physical Demands
  • Maintain focus for long periods while managing live mixes and streams.
  • Use computers and AV hardware and software for extended periods.
  • Frequently set up, adjust, and break down audio, video, and streaming equipment.
  • Lift, carry, and position AV equipment such as speakers, stands, and cable runs.
Work Environment
  • High-pressure live event settings with tight production schedules.
  • Loud noise levels and active operation of AV equipment.

If you can run a live mix, close out a conference room ticket, and help build a control room in the same week, we want to hear from you.
