Job description

About Anthropic

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the Role

As an AV Production Specialist, you'll own the day-to-day operation of the event technology behind how Anthropic communicates — the all-hands, the executive presentations, the live broadcasts. You are the owner of these productions: accountable for their technical outcome from the moment a request arrives through to the follow-up after the room clears, and the technical partner our executives, events team, and communications partners rely on to make them land.

This is an operations role with engineering depth behind it. You'll work across the same technology stack as our broadcast engineering practice with your center of gravity in execution and service. You'll keep our event spaces in a state of readiness through preventative maintenance, and be the calm, capable presence that executives, comms partners, and event producers learn to trust. Your work directly enables the collaboration and transparency that advance our AI safety mission.

Responsibilities
Live Event Production & Run-of-Show
  • Own the technical execution of live and hybrid events, from small executive presentations to company-wide all-hands broadcasts reaching thousands of participants
  • Serve as technical director for live productions across the full range, up to and including executive presentations and company-wide broadcasts Operate production systems during live events including video switchers, audio consoles, camera systems, playback, and streaming encoders
  • Build and run the technical run-of-show: cue sheets, source lists, rehearsal schedules, and backup plans
  • Direct contractors and onsite technicians during productions, delegating clearly under time pressure
  • Troubleshoot and elevate complex production issues with clear diagnostic context
  • Communicate status, risk, and resolution to non-technical stakeholders in clear, calm, jargon-free language
  • Handle confidentiality and access requirements for sensitive sessions, including recording and streaming controls
Event Intake, Scoping & Scheduling
  • Own the event technology intake process end-to-end: request triage, technical scoping conversations, and staffing
  • Right-size production approach to event type, translating stakeholder goals into an equipment and staffing plan that fits the constraints and scope of our team’s SLA
  • Take on genuinely novel events and leave a repeatable standard behind — a template, runbook, or gear list that makes the next one easier than the first and repeatable by the team
  • Maintain the event technology calendar and coordinate coverage across the AV Operations team
  • Partner with Events, Internal Communications, and Workplace teams on lead times, expectations, and readiness
Support Operations & Room Health
  • Execute preventative maintenance programs and recurring room sweeps across event spaces and conference rooms
  • Maintain and test inventory of equipment including wireless microphones, cameras, and portable production gear pre event, following event production framework
  • Contribute to runbooks, standard operating procedures, and knowledge base documentation
  • Surface recurring operational pain points to AV Engineering as candidates for systemic fixes
You May Be a Good Fit If You:
  • Have 8+ years of hands‑on experience in AV operations, live event production, or technical event support
  • Have owned the technical side of live productions end-to‑end — not just operated a single position
  • Bring working fluency across event audio, video, camera, and streaming systems, with enough depth to diagnose problems rather than only report them
  • Are energized rather than drained by being the front‑facing technical partner to executives and event producers
  • Bring structure to ambiguity by building systems for repeatable events
Strong Candidates May Also Have:
  • Technical direction for corporate broadcasts, conferences, or multi‑camera productions
  • Q‑SYS DSP platform, including reading and reasoning about existing audio/video routing and control designs
  • PTZ and professional camera systems, camera control units, and multi‑camera workflows
  • Video conferencing platforms and hardware including Google Meet, Zoom Rooms, and hybrid meeting technologies
  • Live streaming workflows including encoders and encoding settings, contribution and delivery protocols (RTMP, SRT, HLS)
  • Network fundamentals for AV-over-IP including multicast, VLANs, QoS, and bandwidth management
  • Ticketing and workflow systems such as Jira, and building intake or request workflows within them
  • Coordinating AV contractors, integrators, and labor for event coverage
Role Specific Location Policy:
  • This role will be based in our San Francisco HQ
  • This role is expected to be in office 5 days per week
  • Occasional evening and early‑morning coverage is expected around major events
  • 4-6 weeks of travel annually will be expected for this role for distributed event support as needed

Deadline to apply: None. Applications will be received on a rolling basis.

The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.

For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.

How we're different

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long‑term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.

Come work with us!
