Job description

Charisma Event Productions is a Utah AV company producing audio, video, lighting and LED for corporate conferences, galas, expos and live events. Most of our shows are in Utah today, with out-of-state work growing. We expect to roughly double in size every two years, and this hire will help build that company.

Our calendar mixes a high volume of smaller shows with large, technically demanding conferences. You'll keep the small shows running smoothly without losing focus on the big ones.

We're not a typical AV company.

Our mission: We exist to create joy and connection by helping people create elevated experiences.

We're building a team with a genuinely strong culture, where everyone has the client's best interest at heart and goes above and beyond. Our core values:

  • Lead with Charisma: Kind, direct, effective and encouraging.
  • Extreme Ownership: Own the outcome, mistakes included. Bring solutions.
  • World-Class Professionalism: Early, prepared and polished. Clients know we're on their side.
  • Organized Ninjas: Plan ahead and document everything.

We're building a team with a genuinely strong culture, where everyone has the client's best interest at heart and goes above and beyond. Our core values:

  • Lead with Charisma: Kind, direct, effective and encouraging.
  • Service above Self: No job too small, no ego.
  • Extreme Ownership: Own the outcome, mistakes included. Bring solutions.
  • World-Class Professionalism: Early, prepared and polished. Clients know we're on their side.
  • Organized Ninjas: Plan ahead and document everything.
The role

This is a truly hands-on, working Production Manager role. On small and medium shows, pushing cases, setting up gear and working alongside the crew is a normal part of the job, not an exception. On large shows, you'll lead crews of 15+. If you only want to direct and never touch gear, this isn't the role for you.

Once sales hands off a show, it's yours. You'll plan it to a world-class standard and have it complete two weeks before the event, with no check-ins needed from the Owner.

What you'll own
  • Clients: Be the main contact from handoff through wrap. Run the onboarding and final walkthrough calls. Stay kind, calm and personable, especially under pressure.
  • Show planning: Gear lists, labor plans, stage plots and show documents, all locked two weeks out.
  • Weekly production meeting: Lead it and keep the team aligned on every upcoming show.
  • Budget: Own labor, sub-rental and equipment costs. Track each show's profitability and turn scope changes into change orders.
  • Equipment and network: Keep gear and inventory in top shape, recommend new purchases, and build relationships with rental partners, freelancers and venues.
  • Crew and vendors : Hire, schedule and lead freelance crews of 2 to 50, negotiate rates, and mentor our early-career technicians on gear, safety and best practices.
  • Process: Help build the playbook as we scale.
What we're looking for
  • 5+ years as a production manager and 10+ years in live event AV
  • Hands-on across audio, video and lighting, including running a position like A1 or V1
  • Genuinely charismatic, kind and client-focused. We screen for this as seriously as technical skill
  • A builder who welcomes feedback, adapts quickly and wants to help us do things better. We value openness and initiative over years in the chair
  • Enjoys mentoring and developing others
  • Juggles many shows at once while giving complex productions full focus
  • Valid driver's license; can lift 50 lbs; available evenings, weekends and for travel
Nice to have:

corporate general session experience, including show calling; LED wall and screen management (Barco E2, Pixelhue); video switching (ATEM); IMAG camera work; hybrid and streaming events; wireless (RF) coordination; rigging; Vectorworks; LASSO or similar labor and inventory software; ETCP, CTS, Dante or aerial lift certifications; existing knowledge of Utah venues and freelancers.
