Job summary

Guitar Center seeks a Field Engineer to act as the technical expert on Tech Ops projects, ensuring installations meet design specs and are well-documented from start to finish. You will coordinate with project teams, review AutoCAD drawings, and validate IP/network documentation and system commissioning.

A strong client-facing presence and clear communication are essential. Qualifications include 2+ years in AV systems design, ability to mark up drawings, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• 2+ years AV systems design experience.
• Formal education in Electronics or related field preferred.
• Able to interpret and mark up construction/technical drawings.
• Experience working with clients in a professional manner.
• Able to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
• Strong oral and written communication; detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical expert in project quality control.
• Interface with Project management, Clients, Sales, CAD, and Tech Ops teams.
• Document and ensure proper installation through detailed records (AutoCAD markup, IP/network docs, commissioning docs).
• Verify cabling/hardware installation and functionality.
• Direct technical teams on installation challenges.
• Liaise with project managers for engineering inquiries.
• Support tech ops during integration, install, and commissioning.
• Evaluate products with vendors/prospective vendors.
• Commission commercial AV, lighting, shades, and security systems.
