Job summary

LINX Multimedia in Chantilly, VA is seeking an Audio Visual CAD Engineer to produce and maintain AV shop drawings under the guidance of Project Engineers. You will reflect design intent in floor plans, elevations, and diagrams, and adapt drawings as design evolves.

This entry-level role emphasizes developing CAD skills, learning AV signal flow, and pursuing AVIXA certifications while supporting cross-functional teams across Engineering, Production, Programming, and Field operations.

Qualifications

• No degree required; entry-level candidates with strong CAD/drafting aptitude are encouraged to apply.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and core CAD/drafting tools; intermediate computer modeling skills.
• Ability to read construction drawings.
• Basic understanding of AV system signal flow.
• Experience creating markups in Bluebeam.
• Detail-oriented; takes direction and feedback well and acts on it.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise AV shop drawings (floor plans, elevations, reflected ceiling plans, one-line diagrams) that accurately reflect PE-defined design intent.
• Pivot drawings when design intent changes, and surface conflicts between intent and the as-drawn condition.
• Maintain LINX standards for CAD and drafting documents; follow established standards and flag gaps that cause friction.
• Maintain red lines and as-builts in Bluebeam Studio.
• Track progress on assigned drawings and communicate blockers before they slip the schedule.
• Build product and system knowledge progressively; pursue AVIXA and manufacturer certifications.
• Participate in cross-functional efforts and learn how Engineering, Production, Programming, and Field depend on one another.
