Job Summary

Mississippi Power is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Auxiliary Operator to join our team at Plant Daniel. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in the field of plant operations within a power generation environment. The intern will work closely with experienced professionals to support various operational and maintenance tasks, contributing to the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the plant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, maintain, clean, monitor and check the boiler, turbines and auxiliary equipment in the plant
  • Assist other operations employees in completing operational tasks
  • Learn from operations employees about operations throughout the plant
  • Make routine rounds on equipment
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a degree program, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of plant operations
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a dynamic work environment.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Power Plant Operations
  • Familiarity with Maximo or similar maintenance management software.
  • Ability to work rotating 12 hours shifts including weekends, nights and holidays
  • Hands‑on experience in a real‑world power generation setting.
  • Mentorship from experienced professionals.
