Job description

Position Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Auxiliary Operator will operate and inspect various systems and equipment, primarily in areas such as boilers, fans, grates, air pollution control, ash handling, and water treatment systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Record data related to plant systems.
  2. Report equipment malfunctions and identify trends.
  3. Follow the instructions of the Control Room/Supervisor to maintain proper operating conditions.
  4. Operate refuse cranes and heavy equipment including forklifts and front-end loaders.

Qualifications:

  1. GED or High School Diploma.
  2. At least 1 year of experience with high-pressure boilers, electric generating equipment, or industrial process equipment in industries like refineries or chemical processing.
  3. Experience in water treatment or chemistry is a plus.
  4. Experience operating heavy equipment is a plus.

Physical Demands:

  1. Ability to walk, stand, sit, climb, and handle temperature extremes including heat.
  2. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  3. Must qualify to wear a full-face respirator.

Shift Work: Rotating 12-hour shifts: 5 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 5 days off, including days and nights.
