Job summary

MITRE is seeking a technical leader for the Autonomous and Intelligent Systems Department to drive performance and innovation in autonomous systems. You will guide cross-functional teams on AI, robotics, and cloud-based solutions, advancing perception, planning, and multi-robot collaboration.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in autonomy/AI with relevant degrees, familiarity with ROS 2 and Docker, and strong communication, leadership, and sponsor-facing skills.

Qualifications

• Typically requires 5+ years in Autonomy and AI with a relevant degree.
• Broad understanding of autonomous systems across domains.
• Deep experience in robotics fields such as computer vision or ML.
• Ability to articulate autonomy challenges and constraints.
• Familiarity with ROS 2 and Docker; capable of quick learning.
• Strong written and verbal communication; leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on cross-functional teams evaluating autonomous systems.
• Maintain knowledge of advances in autonomy and robotics capabilities.
• Leverage expertise to evaluate and improve AI/Autonomy system performance.
• Provide thought leadership on autonomy technology adoption in robotics and cloud environments.
• Evaluate autonomy/AI solutions and guide sponsors based on requirements.
• Work on robotics topics like computer vision, deep learning, planning, and multi-robot systems.
• Build growth areas for Autonomous Systems and define strategy for high-consequence applications.
• Help define and execute assurance, test & evaluation, and societal implications.
