Job summary

Neros Technologies is seeking a State Estimation and Navigation Lead to own the onboard estimation stack for our unmanned platforms. You will lead a small team, stay hands-on in the estimator, and deliver GPS denied navigation across multiple aircraft while shaping how estimation is measured and validated.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in state estimation, navigation, sensor fusion, or GNC, including leadership experience.
• Ownership of a state estimation or navigation system from architecture to deployment on production hardware.
• Deep expertise in estimation theory (EKF/UKF, error state, or invariant filters) and observability reasoning.
• Hands-on experience fusing IMU, camera, GNSS, and range/altimetry with calibration and time synchronization.
• Experience delivering navigation in GPS-denied or GPS-degraded environments.
• Strong C++ and Python, with real-time embedded compute, memory, and latency constraints.
• Track record of quantitative validation with simulation, hardware-in-the-loop, datasets, and flight tests.
• Experience debugging estimation failures on real hardware and creating regression tests.
• Foundations in linear algebra, probability, and numerical optimization.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical roadmap for onboard state estimation and navigation, and the interface to guidance and control.
• Architect, implement, and field GPS-denied and degraded navigation with fused sensing on embedded compute.
• Lead development of visual inertial and terrain relative navigation across multiple aircraft.
• Define and enforce standards for estimation uncertainty and autonomy reliability with validation workflows.
• Hire, mentor, and set the technical bar for state estimation and navigation engineers.
• Partner with perception, guidance and control, platform software, and hardware teams for sensing, compute, and calibration.
