Job summary

Mariana Minerals seeks a Machine Learning Engineer (Autonomy) to develop autonomy and sensor-integration software for mining vehicles. You will work on perception, localization, mapping, and the autonomy stack from design to field validation, collaborating with hardware and controls teams.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, sensor fusion across LiDAR, cameras, radar, and IMU/GNSS, and delivering safe, reliable autonomous operation in challenging mining environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in mechatronics/robotics/CS/EE or related.
• 2+ years developing autonomy or embedded software for mobile robots.
• Strong proficiency in C++ and/or Python; experience with ROS/ROS 2.

Responsibilities

• Develop autonomy software for autonomous mining vehicles focusing on perception, SLAM, motion planning, and control.
• Integrate and calibrate sensing suite (LiDAR, cameras, radar, IMU, GNSS) with sensor fusion and time synchronization.
• Build and maintain embedded and real-time software bridging sensing, compute, and actuation with emphasis on safety and reliability.
• Develop simulation, logging, and data pipelines to test autonomy behavior and meet safety/availability targets.
• Build bench, rig, and field validation of the autonomy stack and debug across software-hardware boundaries.
• Collaborate with hardware and controls engineers to integrate sensing, compute, and actuation into a complete vehicle.
