Job summary

Zoox in Foster City seeks a Mission Planner Engineer to design high-level routing for autonomous vehicles. You will collaborate with Cloud Services and trajectory planning teams to enable real-time route adaptation in dynamic cities.

You will develop graph search algorithms, test integrated software on the robot, and help shape the team's technical direction. C++ proficiency and MD P/BD knowledge are required; PhD is a bonus.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
• 2+ years of industry experience.
• Programming in C++.
• Understanding graph search techniques (A*, D*, Dijkstra).
• Model real-world problems with Markov Decision Processes or similar frameworks.
• Experience writing code for shipped products (robotics, drones, automotive).

Responsibilities

• Develop mission planner algorithms, including graph search and integration with behavioral planning.
• Integrate and test applications in the robot and learn improvements.
• Collaborate across teams to support integration of software components.
• Set short and long-term technical direction for the team.
• Coordinate initiatives across Mission Planning, Behavioral Planning and Cloud Services.
