Job summary

The Pennsylvania State University’s Applied Research Laboratory in State College, PA, seeks an Embedded Software Engineer to design, implement, test, and integrate software for autonomous undersea systems. You will work on sensor monitoring, actuators, and real-time pipelines within a multidisciplinary team.

Candidates should have hands-on C/C++ for embedded environments, strong communication skills, and the ability to contribute to hardware-in-the-loop testing and field deployments.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, integrate, and test embedded software for autonomous vehicle guidance and control, including sensor monitoring, actuator and motor control, and signal processing algorithms.
• Develop autonomy-related capabilities such as sensor fusion and embedded perception pipelines.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and support hardware-in-the-loop testing and bench validation.
• Prepare documentation and presentations.
• Travel to remote test locations as needed.
