Job summary

Bot Auto designs autonomous trucks and seeks a skilled Mechanical Engineer to design, optimize and retrofit mechanical systems for our vehicles in Houston. You will work on sensor racks, brackets, and integration with electrical and software teams to ensure performance and safety.

You will lead prototyping, conduct simulations, create SOPs, and maintain BOMs while aligning with manufacturing partners. The role requires 3+ years in mechanical engineering, hands-on fabrication, and CAD proficiency.

Qualifications

• This is a mechanical engineering role focusing on design, analysis, fabrication, and integration for autonomous vehicles.
• Candidates should have a degree in mechanical engineering and hands-on experience with CAD and fabrication.
• Experience with automotive safety standards and simulations is valued.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize mechanical systems for autonomous vehicles (sensor racks, brackets, cooling, etc.).
• Run simulations and analyses to validate concepts and ensure safety and performance.
• Lead rapid prototyping and validate designs through testing and iterations.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, and systems engineers to integrate mechanical components.
• Source local fabrication and manufacturing partners and oversee BOM creation.
• Create SOPs and train technicians for retrofitting processes; maintain quality controls.
• Conduct failure analysis and implement corrective actions to improve design and manufacturing.
• Stay up-to-date with advancing autonomous vehicle technologies and apply learnings.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

Master’s degree preferred

3+ years mechanical engineering experience

CAD software proficiency (SolidWorks / CATIA)

Hands-on fabrication & 3D printing

CAe/simulation tools experience

Knowledge of automotive safety standards
