Job summary

UC San Diego Health is a Magnet-designated hospital recognized for nursing excellence. The 6th Floor PCU/IMU unit cares for high-acuity adult medical-surgical, oncology and infectious disease patients at Hillcrest Campus, near downtown San Diego.

Candidates should be prepared for autonomous nursing care, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and demonstrate strong communication and empathy in a fast-paced setting. Cover letter recommended.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.
• RN License issued by the State of California.
• BART or BLS and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get UCSD ART within six months of hire date.
• A minimum of one year of acute care RN experience at the PCU/IMU level or higher.
• Demonstrates nursing-sensitive indicators relevant to PCU/IMU.
• Demonstrates critical thinking and clinical skills for complex patient conditions.
• Ability to handle unexpected challenges with a patient-centered approach.
• Fast-paced environment with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide autonomous nursing care based on competence and ANA standards.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver patient care.
• Communicate effectively with staff, physicians, and patients, both verbally and in writing.
• Demonstrate empathy and patient-centered care in a high-acuity unit.
