Job summary

MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital in Leonardtown, MD is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist with 1+ year post-CFY experience to join our outpatient team.

The role focuses on independent practice as the sole SLP for the hospital, with opportunities to contribute to program planning and patient care across settings. The position requires an SLP license in the region, BLS, and ASHA CCC, with a strong emphasis on evaluation, treatment planning, and discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Doctoral degree from an accredited school of Speech Language Pathology.
• Completion of clinical fellowship year (CFY). One year of additional experience is preferred.
• Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in Maryland, District of Columbia, and/or Virginia required as deemed necessary for your location(s).
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• ASHA (American Speech Language Hearing Association) Certificate of Clinical Competence.

Responsibilities

• Provides evaluation services including review of pertinent historical information, performance of specific assessments, and documentation of results.
• Demonstrates proficiency in implementation of treatment protocols based on evaluation findings and patient condition; consults with other healthcare professionals as indicated.
• Completes discharge planning and follow-up care; documents and charges for patient care activities with clear records of care and goals.
• Manages scheduling and productivity; ensures professional access to care with empathetic patient-focused service.
• Takes initiative in continuing education and serves as clinical instructor; assists with orientation and mentoring of staff, students, and volunteers.
