Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on automotive repair experience required.

Automotive Technician - Full Time

AtChangingGears, we do things differently. We're a non-profit used car dealership with a mission: helping individuals and families in need gain access to safe, reliable transportation. Every vehicle you service directly supports someone's journey toward stability and independence. This position is responsible for diagnosing and repairing vehicles that are donated to ChangingGears, making them safe and reliable for our Purchase Program clients, or getting them ready for fundraising. In some cases you’ll service vehicles owned by clients who are accessing our Repair Program. This is a unique position that will allow you to use your skills and experience to help people have access to affordable and reliable transportation.If you love cars, and you love to help people, this may be a great fit for you!

What You’ll Do

You'll use your skills to:

• Diagnose and repair a wide variety of donated vehicles for our Purchase Program clients and Repair Program customers.
• Complete honest, full vehicle assessments that focus on safety, reliability, and quality.
• Work as part of a small, tight-knit team committed to doing the job right — not rushing for commission.
• Occasionally help with vehicle pickups, technician training, or celebrating milestones with the people we serve.

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of hands-on automotive repair experience (any make or model)
• Self-sufficient and motivated — but team-oriented
• Comfortable using scan tools, ProDemand, ShopBoss, Google Suite, etc.
• Able to bring your own tools (we supply all major shop equipment)
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving history, and clear background check
• Passion for service — and a heart for the mission

ASE certifications are a plus, but not required. We provide ongoing training for the right person.

Location & Logistics

• In-person role at our Cincinnati garage (45214)
• 40 hours per week (guaranteed)
• Hours are generally Monday through Friday between 7am and 5pm
• Must be able to commute or relocate before starting
• Full mobility and ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a shop environment
