Job summary

University of Hawaii at Manoa seeks an experienced automotive technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair computerized vehicle systems. You will test microprocessor-based components using scanning instruments and diagnostic tools, and perform journey-level mechanical repairs.

The role requires four years of automotive repair experience at journey level, with at least two years using computerized testing equipment.

Qualifications

  • Four years of automotive repair experience at journey level.
  • At least two years of the required experience using computerized equipment to test, diagnose, and complete repairs of microprocessor-based systems.
  • Valid State of Hawai'i Vehicle Inspector Certificate at time of hire or ability to obtain before end of probation.
  • Valid driver's license at time of appointment.
  • Substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

  • Independently performs the full range of maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work on computerized systems in motor vehicles.
  • Uses computerized equipment such as scanning instruments, oscilloscope, and digital voltmeter to test and diagnose microprocessor-based systems.
  • Performs journey-level mechanical and electrical maintenance and repair and handles other related duties.
