Job summary

BMW Fairfax, a Sonic Automotive family dealership, is hiring an Automotive Service Technician to perform vehicle repair and maintenance per dealer and factory standards. S/he will oversee apprentice technicians and support training alignment with factory guidelines.

The role requires high CSI, ASE or manufacturing training, and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Authorization to work in the USA is assumed for this posting, with competitive compensation and comprehensive

Qualifications

• High CSI is a must for service quality and customer satisfaction.
• Beyond the basics, ASE or factory training demonstrates technical readiness.
• A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required.

Responsibilities

• Receive repair orders from dispatcher and take to stall area.
• Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy.
• Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair.
• Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Save and tag parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer.
• Examine the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
• Notify service advisor if additional work outlined is not needed or required.
• Notify service advisor if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
• Document work performed.
• Road-test vehicles when required or refer to the test technician.
• Supervise apprentice technicians as assigned.
• Attend factory-sponsored training classes.
• Keep abreast of factory technical bulletins.
• Ensure customers’ cars are kept clean.
• Keep shop area neat and account for tools.
• Follow regulations on hazardous waste disposal.
• Follow all safety policies and report accidents.
