A day-in-the-life of an ACG Car Care Technician

ACG Car Care Technicians complete routine scheduled maintenance service on automobiles and trucks, as directed by a manager or Service Advisor. They spend their day performing basic automotive repair, adjustments, and maintenance procedures, including oil changes, tire replacement & repairs, and general vehicle maintenance.

In this role, Automotive Service Techs will also have the opportunity to:

• Drive vehicles into service bays, prepare them for, and complete digital vehicle inspection


• Perform general automotive maintenance and repairs


• Test drive vehicles and prepare vehicles for delivery to customers after necessary repairs and maintenance are complete


• Keep the shop clean and organized to ensure a positive member/customer experience


• Learn from Technician A, B, and C colleagues to further advance one’s career

Technician Levels

• General Service Tech – All duties above. Hourly: $15 - $17


• Technician C – Includes all General Service Tech duties plus performing automotive repairs, adjustments and maintenance procedures as outlined on repair orders. Hourly: $17 - $25


• Technician B – Includes all Technician C duties plus work with, mentor, and train less experienced technicians and performing advanced repair and maintenance services. Base salary: $40,000 - $70,000+ plus weekly production bonus


• Technician A – Includes all Technician B duties plus complete electrical repairs, diagnostic repairs, drivability diagnostics, etc. Base salary: $65,000 - $110,000+ plus weekly production bonus

• Work‑life balance: closed Sundays, shorter workdays (close at 6 pm), Monday–Friday 7:30 am – 6 pm, Saturday 8 am – 4 pm, closed major holidays

Requirements

• High School diploma, GED, or technical school certification


• Valid driver’s license


• Mechanical aptitude


• Keen knowledge of automotive and/or truck systems, tools, and technical resources


• Ability to independently perform basic repairs and maintenance of automobile and truck vehicles


• Consistently demonstrate proper use of equipment and tools, and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area


• Consistently provide exceptional customer service and improve customer service scores

Preferred Qualifications by Level

• General Service Tech: G1 – Auto Maintenance & Light Repair preferred, State inspection certificate where applicable, AC 609 Certification


• Technician C: Minimum 6 months relevant experience or completion of formal automotive training program. ASE Certifications (A4 – Suspension & Steering, A5 – Brakes), AC 609 Certification


• Technician B: 3 years or more experience repairing vehicles at a dealership or automotive center. Two other ASE certifications (or equivalent), AC 609 Certification


• Technician A: 5 years or more experience repairing vehicles at a dealership or automotive center. ASE Certifications (A1 – A8) with Master Technician designation or equivalent combination, ASE certification L1 – Advanced Engine Performance Specialist, AC 609 Certification

Work Environment

• May experience loud noises and odors intermittently in the shop environment


• Position involves standing, walking, and normal physical mobility, including reaching, grabbing, lifting, and carrying automotive parts and equipment (up to approximately 80 pounds)


• Must have own tools appropriate for the skill level for use in the center


• Must be able to work in the heat; some locations do not have air conditioning – fans are present in all facilities


• Must be able to maintain working on your feet in a concrete facility for the entire work shift

Regular and reliable attendance is essential for the function of this job.
