Job summary

Briggs Kia is seeking an Automotive Technician to grow with a modern service department in Topeka. We offer training, top pay based on experience, and opportunities to advance from Express/Apprentice to Master Technician.

You’ll work on routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs across hybrid and EV systems, with a strong focus on quality workmanship and customer satisfaction. A positive attitude and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required / automotive tech education a plus.
• ASE certifications are welcomed but not required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and positive attitude preferred.”

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance: oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks.
• Conduct diagnostics and repairs: brakes, steering, HVAC, engine performance, electrical systems, transmissions.
• Provide excellent customer care with clear documentation and communication.

What You'll Do

Depending on your experience level, your responsibilities may include:

Routine Maintenance

• Oil and filter changes


• Tire rotations and balancing


• Fluid inspections and replacements


• Battery testing and replacement


• Multi-point vehicle inspections

Diagnostics & Repairs

• Brake repairs


• Steering and suspension repairs


• HVAC diagnosis and repair


• Engine performance diagnostics


• Electrical system troubleshooting


• Transmission and drivetrain repairs


• Engine and transmission replacement


• Hybrid and EV system servicing (training provided)

Customer Care

• Perform accurate vehicle inspections


• Recommend needed repairs with detailed documentation


• Maintain high-quality workmanship


• Help deliver an exceptional ownership experience

Preferred qualifications include:

• High school diploma or GED


• Automotive technical education is a plus


• ASE certifications are welcomed but not required

Previous Automotive Repair Experience Preferred

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record


• Strong mechanical aptitude


• Positive attitude and willingness to learn


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Physical Requirements

• Lift up to 50 pounds


• Stand, bend, kneel, and work on vehicles throughout the day


• Safely operate shop equipment and tools


• Work in a fast-paced service environment
