CarMax in Merriam, KS is seeking an Automotive Technician to diagnose, repair, and recondition vehicles to CarMax standards in a clean, climate-controlled shop. You’ll work on engines, brakes, steering, and electrical systems, perform multi-point inspections, document findings, and grow with a team that values safety, integrity, and quality.

The position pays $20.20–$35.40 per hour with eligibility for commissions and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience with engines, brakes, suspension, or HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of workplace safety protocols and compliance standards.
• Ability to multitask in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail with clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Physical stamina and manual dexterity, including the ability to lift, walk, and stand for extended periods.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair vehicles to meet CarMax standards, aligned to experience level.
• Perform automotive services from basic maintenance to complex mechanical and electrical repairs.
• Complete multi-point inspections and document findings and completed work following processes.
• Repair or replace vehicle components such as trim, seals, and panels for reconditioning.
• Assist with alignment, suspension, and performance diagnostics as skills grow.
• Uphold CarMax values and collaborate with teammates to meet production goals.
