Job summary

Pep Boys in Gainesville, FL is seeking a Technician to inspect, diagnose, and repair tire and automotive services while delivering excellent customer experiences. You will explain technical diagnoses to customers and co-workers, stay updated with evolving automotive tech, and train teammates as needed.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 1+ year of mechanical diagnosis/repair experience, ASE certifications preferred, and the ability to work days, nights, weekends as required.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience.
• Section 609 certification preferred and ASE certifications (A4/A5) are noted as helpful.
• State Inspection license is preferred where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair brake, hydraulic, exhaust, electrical, cooling, suspension, and alignment systems per specifications.
• Perform maintenance services as required and assist other technicians.
• Explain diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical staff and customers.
• Continuously learn new automotive techniques in formal training sessions.
• Mentor co-workers and maintain an organized, safe shop environment.
• Communicate repair progress to store management and customers as needed.

Position Summary

A Technician must professionally inspect, diagnose and repair tire and automotive services, while delivering an excellent customer experience. They must explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to co-workers and customers. A Technician is expected to continuously learn new technical information and techniques in order to stay updated with rapidly changing automotive technology and perform work in accordance with specifications. A successful Technician will also train and mentor co-workers as well as maintain clean and safe work areas.

A Technician is expected to continuously learn new technical information and techniques in order to stay updated with rapidly changing automotive technology and perform work in accordance with specifications. A successful Technician will also train and mentor co-workers as well as maintain clean and safe work areas.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications -- brake and hydraulic, exhaust, basic electrical, cooling system, suspension and alignment, perform all maintenance services.


• Perform job duties of all lower job descriptions (Mechanic and General Service Technician).


• Adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include employees and customers on an as-required basis.


• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing automotive technology.


• Assist fellow technicians/mechanics in performing technical activities.


• Keep store management aware of mechanical repair problems as they occur.


• Maintain an organized and neat shop.


• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety and environmental rules.

• A High School Diploma or GED


• At least 1 year of strong automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience.


• 2 or more ASE certifications are PREFERRED for this position (A4 Steering and Suspension & A5 Brakes)


• Section 609 certification PREFERRED


• State Inspection license if applicable


• High level of motivation, energy and a customer-focused attitude.


• Must have a valid driver's license


• Successful completion of pre-employment background check


• Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends as needed

Pay Range

• $21.00 to $35.00 flat rate based on experience


• Up to 28 labor hours guaranteed per week


• Company funded ASE certifications
