Job summary

Pep Boys in Clearwater, FL seeks an Automotive Technician to diagnose, repair, and explain vehicle issues while delivering excellent customer service. You will mentor teammates, stay current with automotive tech, and maintain a clean, safe shop environment.

This role requires high school diploma, automotive experience, ASE preferred, and flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends. A valid driver's license and background check are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of automotive diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience.
• 2+ ASE certifications preferred (A4 Steering & Suspension, A5 Brakes).
• Section 609 certification preferred.
• State Inspection license if applicable.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Successful pre-employment background check.
• Must be available to work days, nights, holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications across brakes, hydraulics, exhaust, electrical, cooling, suspension and alignment.
• Perform duties of lower roles (Mechanic and General Service Technician).
• Explain diagnoses and needed repairs to non-technical staff and customers as needed.
• Continuously learn new automotive techniques through formal training.
• Assist other technicians in performing technical tasks.
• Notify store management of repair issues as they arise.
• Maintain an organized, clean shop and follow safety rules.

Position Summary

Technician must professionally inspect, diagnose and repair tire and automotive services, while delivering an excellent customer experience. They must explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to co-workers and customers. A Technician is expected to continuously learn new technical information and techniques in order to stay updated with rapidly changing automotive technology and perform work in accordance with specifications. A successful Technician will also train and mentor co-workers as well as maintain clean and safe work areas.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications -- brake and hydraulic, exhaust, basic electrical, cooling system, suspension and alignment, perform all maintenance services.
• Perform job duties of all lower job descriptions (Mechanic and General Service Technician).
• Adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include employees and customers on an as-required basis.
• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing automotive technology.
• Assist fellow technicians/mechanics in performing technical activities.
• Keep store management aware of mechanical repair problems as they occur.
• Maintain an organized and neat shop.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety and environmental rules.

• A High School Diploma or GED

• 2 or more ASE certifications are PREFERRED for this position (A4 Steering and Suspension & A5 Brakes)
• Section 609 certification PREFERRED
• State Inspection license if applicable
• High level of motivation, energy and a customer-focused attitude.
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Successful completion of pre-employment background check
• Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends as needed

Pay Range

• $21.00 to $35.00 flat rate based on experience
• Up to 28 labor hours guaranteed per week
• Company funded ASE certifications
