Job summary

Pep Boys in Brookhaven, PA is seeking an experienced Automotive Technician who can diagnose drivability and electrical issues, and lead a small team to improve customer care. Responsibilities include diagnosing to specifications, explaining needed repairs to customers, continuing training, and maintaining a safe, organized shop.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of automotive diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience.
• 4+ ASE certifications preferred (A4 Steering and Suspension & A5 Brakes, plus 2 from A1/A6/A7/A8/L1).
• 609 certification is required.
• State Inspection license if applicable.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Pre-employment background check will be completed.
• Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications across brake, electrical, suspension and climate control systems.
• Perform duties of lower technician levels when needed.
• Explain diagnoses and needed repairs to customers and staff.
• Continuously learn new automotive techniques through formal training.
• Assist fellow technicians in performing technical tasks.
• Keep management informed of mechanical repair issues as they occur.

Position Summary

A Technician is primarily responsible for using their experience and technical expertise to diagnose drivability and electrical systems. A successful Technician will use leadership and mentoring skills to drive a team to increase customer care and satisfaction. A Technician will have direct interaction with customers and deliver superior service through educating the customer on the problems and proposed solutions for their vehicle.

A Technician will have direct interaction with customers and deliver superior service through educating the customer on the problems and proposed solutions for their vehicle.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair to specifications -- brake and hydraulic, exhaust, primary and/or advanced fuel ignition and electrical, suspension and alignment, air conditioning and computer systems.
• Perform job duties of all lower job descriptions (Technician B, Mechanic, General Service Technician).
• Adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include employees and customers on an as-required basis.
• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing automotive technology.
• Assist fellow technicians/mechanics in performing technical activities.
• Keep store management aware of mechanical repair problems as they occur.
• Maintain an organized and neat shop.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety and environmental rules.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• A High School Diploma or GED
• 3+ years of strong automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience.
• 4 or more ASE certifications are PREFERRED for this position (A4 Steering and Suspension & A5 Brakes, plus 2 from the following: A1 Engine Repair, A6 Electrical, A7 HVAC, A8 Engine Performance, L1 Advanced Engine Performance)
• Section 609 certification required
• State Inspection license if applicable
• High level of motivation, energy and a customer-focused attitude.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Successful completion of pre-employment background check
• Availability to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends as needed

Pay Range

• $23.10 to $38.50 flat rate based on experience
• Up to 32 labor hours guaranteed per week
• Company funded ASE certifications
