Job summary

CarMax is hiring a Mechanical Associate to inspect, diagnose, repair, and recondition vehicles, from engines and brakes to steering and suspension, in a climate-controlled facility. You’ll join a collaborative team with ongoing training to grow your skills.

Required: experience in engine repair, steering/suspension, brakes, and HVAC; valid driver’s license; ability to lift and work on your feet. ASE certifications may be required by state/local law.

Qualifications

• Experience repairing engines, steering, suspension, brakes and HVAC systems as required by the role.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety compliance in an automotive environment.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced shop while maintaining quality and safety.
• Strong communication and attention to detail for vehicle diagnostics and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair vehicles to meet CarMax quality and safety standards.
• Collaborate with a team to solve technical challenges quickly and effectively.
• Gain hands-on experience across domestic and foreign vehicles.
• Uphold CarMax's commitment to customer satisfaction and trust.
• Follow CarMax EH&S requirements and maintain a clean work area.
