Job summary

The Dallas Fort Worth International Airport Board is seeking an Automotive Technician to perform maintenance and repairs on automotive equipment under supervision. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and making repairs using test equipment and technical manuals.

Qualified candidates must have three years of experience as an automotive mechanic and complete high school or equivalent education. A valid Class B Commercial driver's license is required within six months of employment.

Job Overview

Under the supervision of the Automotive Maintenance Supervisor, the Automotive Technician will train or perform maintenance and repair on a variety of automotive equipment. The role includes troubleshooting, making repairs, and performing adjustments using test equipment and technical manuals.

Responsibilities

• Trouble‑shoot problems, determine corrective action, and make repairs or adjustments using test equipment and technical manuals.
• Perform engine tune‑ups, replace parts, and adjust systems.
• Repair electrical, fuel, electronic ignition, emission, and exhaust systems.
• Inspect and repair hydraulic systems on equipment; replace components as required.
• Inspect and replace or repair brake systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Make repairs or complete overhauls on gasoline and diesel engines and alternative fuels.
• Repair or replace front‑end parts on vehicles and equipment; align front end.
• Repair, replace, and service transmissions, drive shafts, U‑joints, and differential axles.
• Repair carburetors, generator‑alternators, ball joints, shocks, wheel bearings/seals, starters, fuel pumps, and other equipment.
• Service and make repairs to vehicle air conditioning systems.

Qualifications

• Completion of a high school curriculum or equivalent.
• Three (3) years experience as an automotive mechanic.
• Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.

Certifications and Requirements

• Valid Class B Commercial driver’s license with a passenger (P) endorsement; must obtain within 6 months of employment.
• Valid Class C driver’s license.
• EPA 608 Refrigerant certification within 90 days of employment.
• SIDA badge within 30 days of employment and maintain qualification for badge renewal.
• Pass drug and alcohol tests prior to employment and during random screening.
• Must meet initial and recurrent training requirements within 30 days of assignment to a driving position, including Ground Vehicle Driver Training for Air Operations Area.
