Job summary

Expressway Chevrolet in Mt. Vernon, Indiana is seeking a certified WORLD CLASS TECHNICIAN to join our growing service team. As an Automotive Technician, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles to meet factory and dealer standards.

You will work closely with customers and supervisors, order parts, perform tests, and install components while upholding safety and quality. This role offers a path to advancement in a family-owned dealership.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; additional education preferred.
• GM Certification preferred.
• 2 years of automotive service/parts experience.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Service vehicles in a timely manner per dealer and manufacturer guidelines.
• Assist customers with repairs by ordering parts and performing diagnostics and installations.
• Communicate with supervisor about work performed and parts needed.
• Maintain knowledge by attending workshops and trainings.
• Keep the service area clean and organized, and maintain vehicle cleanliness during work.
• Follow safety requirements and dispose of hazardous materials properly.
• Be punctual with attendance; overtime as needed.
• Other tasks as required.

Expressway Chevrolet in Mt.Vernon, Indiana is looking for a certified WORLD CLASS TECHNICIAN. Expressway Automotive is a large family owned dealership with room to grow in your career as a Automotive Technician.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Service vehicles in a timely manner for routine scheduled maintenance in accordance with dealer and manufacturer recommendations.
• Assist customers who need repairs for their vehicle by ordering parts, diagnosing problems, performing vehicle operations tests and installing new components.
• Communicate with the supervisor on a regular basis about work performed, necessary changes, new parts needed or any other concerns related to repair or maintenance work on vehicles.
• Keep up with required knowledge and skills in automotive maintenance by attending workshops, seminars or other classes to help ensure the work completed is of the highest quality.
• Maintain a clean working environment on the automotive service floor by putting materials and parts away as work is completed and ensuring the customer’s car is kept neat and orderly throughout the scope of work.
• Follow all safety requirements and local and federal standards when it comes to disposing of hazardous or toxic materials.
• Adhere to best practices when working in the automotive service environment by reporting any accidents or incidents to management as soon as possible.
• Requires being at work on time and have satisfactory attendance.
• Other tasks may be required as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED; Additional education preferred.
• Must maintain industry required courses and certifications; GM Certification preferred.
• 2 years of experience working in the automotive servicing/ parts industry.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, with a driving record clear of major violation.

WORK ENVIROMENT:

• Primarily active, requiring lots of physical movement such as standing, kneeling, bending, stooping, walking, etc.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Largely sedentary role, with filing required.
• Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30am – 5:00pm. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
