Job summary

Wilhelm Automotive, part of the Sun Auto Network, seeks a Diesel Automotive Technician / Mechanic to diagnose and repair vehicles in accordance with MAP guidelines and company standards.

The compensation ranges from $36k to $120k depending on experience, with benefits including tuition reimbursement, paid vacation and sick time, holidays, medical/dental/vision insurance, company-paid life insurance, a 401(k) with company match, discounted services, and advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Prefer ASE certification or equivalent experience or training.
• Must possess a current, valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work Monday - Saturday.

Responsibilities

• Diagnoses vehicles according to the appropriate level of certifications/experience.
• Performs work outlined on the Multi-point Inspection and/or Repair Order with efficiency and accuracy.
• Explains technical diagnosis and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals (e.g., Store Manager, Service Consultants, customers).
• Recommends services necessary to keep the customer’s vehicle in running condition; documents all recommendations in the customer file.
• Follows all safety procedures and reports concerns to the Shop Foreman or Store Manager.
• Maintains ASE certifications and renewals of expiring certifications.

is responsible for effectively and efficiently diagnosing and repairing customer vehicles while adhering to the MAP guidelines and in accordance with dealership, manufacturer’s and company standards.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Diagnoses vehicles according to the appropriate level of certifications/experience.
• Performs work as outlined on the Multi-point Inspection and/or Repair Order with efficiency and accuracy.
• Explains technical diagnosis and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include the Store Manager, Service Consultants and/or customers.

• Maintains appropriate ASE certifications and renewals of expiring certifications.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Prefer a minimum of one unexpired ASE or equivalent experience or training
• Possess current, valid driver’s license
• Ability to work Monday - Saturday

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

The Automotive Technician will be exposed to moderate to loud noises, dust, exhaust fumes, lubricants, petroleum products, vapors, caustic materials and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. The temperature in the work environment varies and could include extreme heat and/or extreme cold depending on the ambient temperatures outside.

The Automotive Technician must be able to meet the following physical requirements:

• Stand up to eight hours per day in the shop and able to walk to gain access to various areas of the building
• Bend, stoop, kneel and crouch regularly throughout the day; must have full range of motion with arms and hands and be able to feel, handle or finger objects frequently
• Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Hear and speak
• Vision sufficient to detect color, depth, and re-focus
