Senior Automotive Technician

Reliable Automotive, part of Sun Auto Tire & Service, is seeking an experienced automotive technician to diagnose and repair customer vehicles with accuracy, efficiency, and attention to quality. The successful candidate will perform advanced diagnostics and repairs while ensuring each vehicle meets MAP guidelines and manufacturer standards.

Pay: $30.00–$45.00 per hour (flag rate) depending on experience and certifications.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Diagnose vehicles according to the appropriate level of certifications/experience.
• Perform work as outlined on the multi‑point inspection and/or repair order efficiently and accurately.
• Complete complex and heavy‑duty repairs.
• Explain technical diagnosis and needed repairs to non‑mechanical individuals, including store managers, service consultants, and customers.
• Recommend necessary services, documenting all recommendations in the customer file.
• Follow all safety procedures and report any concerns to the direct supervisor.
• Work flexible schedules, including weekends as needed, but not Sundays.
• Adhere to Sun Auto’s core values, company policies, and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.

Qualifications

• Previous automotive technician/mechanic experience required.
• ASE certifications acceptable in lieu of experience.
• Ability to demonstrate proper use of computerized diagnostic equipment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess a state inspector license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire in applicable locations.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical school experience preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

The Senior Automotive Technician will be exposed to moderate to loud noises, dust, exhaust fumes, lubricants, petroleum products, vapors, caustic materials, and other hazardous and non‑hazardous materials. The temperature in the work environment varies and may include extreme heat or cold depending on ambient temperatures. The use of safety goggles or other PPE may be required in these conditions.

• Stand up to eight hours per day in the shop and walk to access various areas.
• Bend, stoop, kneel and crouch regularly; maintain full range of motion with arms and hands.
• Lift or move up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 70 pounds frequently.
• Communicate with customers and shop personnel.
• Vision sufficient to detect color, depth, and refocus.
