Tidewater Tech in Norfolk, VA, is seeking Automotive Technician Instructors. Bring your industry knowledge to train the next generation of automotive pros in a hands-on setting, sharing diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance expertise.

No teaching experience is required; we provide a five-day paid instructor training to help you transition from the shop to the classroom. Full-time and part-time roles available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years hands-on automotive maintenance, service, diagnostics or repair experience.
• Strong knowledge of automotive systems, troubleshooting and shop safety.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to students.
• Basic computer skills and willingness to learn instructional tech.
• Commitment to at least 20 hours of annual technical update training.

Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on automotive technology instruction in classroom and lab.
• Teach maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair using standard tools.
• Demonstrate proper procedures, safety practices, and diagnostic techniques.
• Mentor students as they develop technical skills for careers.
• Evaluate student performance, monitor attendance, and maintain records.
• Maintain a safe, organized learning environment.
• Collaborate with leadership to support curriculum delivery and equipment readiness.
• Participate in technical training and professional development.
