Job summary

Fairplex Learning and Development Center is seeking an Automotive Technology Instructor to deliver competency-based instruction to high school students, aligning with state standards and industry certifications. The role involves creating engaging curricula, monitoring attendance and progress, and collaborating with advisory committees.

The instructor will foster a safe learning environment, communicate requirements and assessments clearly, and work with community partners to support career

Qualifications

• Must hold or be eligible for a Designated Subjects Career and Technical Education Teaching Credential with authorization in the Automotive Industry sector.
• Three–five years work experience in a related automotive field with current knowledge of industry standards.
• Hold ASE Master Certification or hold a minimum of ASE Certification in the following areas: Brakes, Steering & Suspension, Engine Performance and Electrical.
• Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Possess strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain computer-based attendance, grades, and schedules.
• Provide group and individualized instruction according to state-approved course outlines aligned with CTE and academic standards.
• Design and implement relevant curriculum utilizing input from advisory committee and industry certifications.
• Provide instruction paced to specific career skills while accommodating individual differences.
• Establish a safe, civil learning environment and monitor student attendance and progress.
• Collaborate with peers to plan lessons for automotive pathway courses.
• Develop safety procedures for the automotive classroom and facility.
• Guide students in career-related decisions and partners with community institutions.
