Job summary

BIG O TIRES in California is seeking experienced Automotive Service Technicians/Mechanics to diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles, ensuring safety and optimal performance. You will work with customers and teammates to identify issues and complete repairs efficiently in a fast-paced shop.

Candidates should have strong mechanical aptitude, solid problem-solving skills, ASE certifications preferred, and willingness to work holidays and weekends.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-4 years of proven industry experience as a full‑service Service Technician or Mechanic.
• ASE Certifications preferred
• Must possess the necessary tools and equipment for the position of an automotive Service Technician
• Availability to work holidays, weekends, and after regular business hours as needed
• Ability to move and lift up to 60 pounds
• Ability to meet company requirements, including a successful pre‑employment drug screening, MVR, and criminal background check

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostic tests on various vehicle systems, including engine, transmission, brakes, and electrical components.
• Identify mechanical and electrical issues accurately to determine necessary repairs and replacements.
• Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks to ensure vehicle longevity.
• Utilize specialized tools and computer systems to carry out repairs and updates in accordance with manufacturer standards.
• Maintain comprehensive service records and document all work performed clearly and accurately.
• Communicate effectively with customers to explain vehicle issues, recommend repairs, and outline service timelines.
• Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and team members.
