Job summary

Sonic Automotive is seeking a Reconditioning Technician to inspect, repair, and prepare pre-owned vehicles for front-line readiness according to dealership and manufacturer standards.

Responsibilities include performing inspections, basic maintenance, and cosmetic reconditioning while ensuring safety and quality before moving vehicles to the front line. This role reports to the service team and offers opportunities for advancement within a Fortune 500 company.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of automotive maintenance or repair experience.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Authorized to work in the USA and able to pass pre-employment testing (background checks, MVR, drug test).

Responsibilities

• Inspect vehicles to identify mechanical and cosmetic repairs.
• Perform basic maintenance such as oil changes, brakes, batteries, and fluid checks.
• Document work performed and communicate needed repairs to service advisors or management.
• Assist with cosmetic reconditioning including buffing and light interior cleaning.
• Ensure vehicles meet safety and quality standards before front-line movement.
• Maintain reconditioning logs and meet daily production targets.
• Operate and move vehicles safely within dealership and service areas.
• Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with safety procedures.
