Job summary

The Parts Handler at LKQ Savannah, GA, will perform day-to-day warehouse duties including locating and retrieving parts, packaging for delivery, and preparing orders with careful attention to accuracy and safety.

Role requires basic math, familiarity with automotive parts, and ability to use Outlook, Word and Excel for paperwork. You may operate a forklift or order picker and must comply with safety guidelines and PPE requirements.

Qualifications

• Basic math and measurement skills used for parts handling.
• Knowledge of automotive parts and how they are organized in a yard/warehouse.
• Ability to read simple orders and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Safely maneuver around the yard or warehouse.
• Find/Retrieve parts and package for delivery/prepping.
• Pull work orders and use hand and power tools to remove parts from cars.
• Operate a forklift or order picker as needed.
• Tag parts for destination and update paperwork.
• Communicate with Sales and Dispatch.
• Maintain a clean work area and follow safety protocols.

This position may be directed by the Production/Yard Leader to assure that the parts are handled in a safe, efficient, and proper manner.Essential Job DutiesSafely maneuver around the yard or warehouse.Find/Retrieve parts.Package parts for delivery/or preppingAny paperwork involved with the parts.Pull work orders.Use hand tools and power tools to remove parts from cars.Operate a powered industrial truck (forklift) or order picker.Pull and prep all sheet metal and other orders.Tag all parts properly for the destination.Communicate with Sales and Dispatch.Must display a positive and friendly attitude as well as appropriate behavior during work hours.Cleanliness must be maintained in the work area.Assume other duties as assigned.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesNot responsible for supervising employees.Minimum RequirementsEducation & ExperienceHigh School Diploma/GED.Preferred RequirementsA working knowledge of automotive parts.Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret graphs.Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, graphics, etc.Basic messages communicated orally. May write brief messages and keep simple records. May explain and offer guidance on routine procedures.Problems encountered are routine, somewhat repetitive, and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures.Decisions generally affect own job or assigned functional area.Results are defined and existing practices are used as guidelines for how to complete work activities; works closely with supervisor/manager who provides broad guidance and overall direction.Prioritize assigned and routine tasks.
