Job summary

Z2 Motorsports in New Britain, Connecticut is seeking an experienced Automotive Painter to join our restoration and restomod shop. This role focuses on high-quality finishes for classic muscle cars, with emphasis on complete repaints, color changes, and custom finishes.

You'll work closely with body technicians to ensure flawless prep, precise color matching, and show-quality results on unique builds. The ideal candidate demonstrates pride, attention to detail, and a commitment to craftsmanship

Qualifications

• Professional automotive painting experience.
• Experience with complete vehicle repaints.
• Strong knowledge of modern automotive paint systems.
• Excellent spray-gun technique.
• Experience producing high-quality clearcoat finishes.
• Strong color-matching skills.
• Experience wet sanding and buffing.
• Understanding of proper surface preparation and how it affects the final finish.
• Ability to identify and correct paint defects.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while also being part of a larger restoration team.

Responsibilities

Z2 Motorsports is looking for an experienced Automotive Painter to join our growing muscle car restoration and restomod shop.

We specialize in classic muscle cars, restorations, restomods, and custom performance vehicles. We're looking for a painter who takes pride in producing exceptional finishes and wants to work on exciting vehicles where craftsmanship and quality matter.

This is not a high-volume collision-shop position. Our focus is on quality restoration and custom work, including complete repaints, color changes, custom finishes, and high-end restoration projects.

What You’ll Do

As a painter at Z2 Motorsports, you'll be responsible for producing high-quality finishes on classic, muscle, and performance vehicles. Responsibilities include:

• Complete vehicle refinishing

• Basecoat/clearcoat application

• Single-stage paint application when appropriate

• Color matching and paint mixing

• Sealer, primer, basecoat, and clearcoat application

• Proper masking and vehicle preparation

Who We’re Looking For

We're looking for an experienced painter who has a strong eye for detail and takes personal pride in the finished product.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Professional automotive painting experience

• Experience with complete vehicle repaints

• Strong knowledge of modern automotive paint systems

• Excellent spray-gun technique

• Experience producing high-quality clearcoat finishes

• Strong color-matching skills

• Experience wet sanding and buffing

• Understanding of proper surface preparation and how it affects the final finish

• A commitment to producing consistently high-quality work

Restoration or custom-paint experience is preferred but not required. An experienced collision painter who produces excellent work and wants to transition away from production collision work is encouraged to apply.
