Job summary

Shively Bros., Inc. is seeking a Metallurgical Lab Technician to prepare heat-treated components and conduct testing of material structures, micro-hardness, and case depth using specialized metallurgical equipment.

The role includes analyzing results, preparing reports, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. Candidates will work to meet production deadlines, maintain charts, and communicate findings to the lab supervisor and plant management.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Strong computer skills and ability to prepare reports.
• Comply with safety guidelines, PPE and safe work practices.
• Pass pre-employment background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Perform metallurgical testing to analyze material structure, hardness, case depth, and other tests as required.
• Tests must meet specifications and production deadlines.
• Review test results, prepare reports and approve materials based on criteria.
• Communicate results to metallurgical lab supervisor and plant management.
• Develop and maintain charts and reports for metallurgical processes.
• Follow Global Manufacturing System procedures and guidelines.
• Demonstrate problem-solving during manufacturing processes.
• Operate lab equipment safely, perform preventative maintenance, report issues.

Job description

We are looking for a Metallurgical Lab Technician to prepare heat-treated components and conduct testing to analyze material structures, micro-hardness, and case depth using specialized metallurgical equipment. Responsibilities

• Perform metallurgical testing to analyze material structure, hardness, case depth, and other tests as required
• Testing must follow all required specifications and be performed quickly to meet production deadlines
• Review test results comparing them to the specifications, prepare reports and approve materials based on criteria and requirements
• Promptly communicate results the met lab supervisor and plant management
• Develop and maintain charts and reports for the sediment and metallurgical processes
• Comply with all Global Manufacturing System systems and procedures
• Ability to problem-solve during manufacturing processes
• Safely and correctly operate lab equipment, perform routine preventative maintenance, and report any issues to management

Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent
• Strong computer skills, ability to organize and prepare reports
• Comply with all safety guidelines to ensure a safe work environment, including always wearing the proper PPE, safely handling chemicals, and reporting unsafe work conditions or equipment immediately
• Successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
