Shively Bros., Inc. in Toledo, Ohio, is seeking a Metallurgical Lab Technician to prepare heat-treated components and conduct tests of material structures, micro-hardness, and case depth using specialized equipment.

The role emphasizes rapid testing to meet production deadlines, accurate reporting, and strict adherence to safety guidelines. The incumbent will work closely with lab and plant management to ensure material conformity.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Strong computer skills; ability to organize and prepare reports.
• Comply with all safety guidelines to ensure a safe work environment, including PPE and safe handling of chemicals.
• Successful pass of a pre-employment background check and drug screening.

• Perform metallurgical testing to analyze material structure, hardness, case depth, and other tests as required.
• Testing must follow all required specifications and be performed quickly to meet production deadlines.
• Review test results comparing them to the specifications, prepare reports and approve materials based on criteria and requirements.
• Promptly communicate results to the met lab supervisor and plant management.
• Develop and maintain charts and reports for the sediment and metallurgical processes.
• Comply with all Global Manufacturing System procedures.
• Ability to problem-solve during manufacturing processes.
• Safely and correctly operate lab equipment, perform routine preventative maintenance, and report any issues to management.
