Job summary

Magna International, within the Mechatronics, Mirrors & Lighting group, offers an engaging engineering environment in Michigan. You will participate in daily product engineering tasks involving design, tooling, testing and materials while working with experienced engineers.

As a Student / Co-Op, you will support predevelopment through production phases, coordinate internal and external resources, contribute to continuous improvement, and help benchmark automotive components to drive innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Support team efforts related to product, process, tooling, testing, and materials as it relates to product engineering activities.
  • Takes direction from other staff engineers and Engineering Managers for predevelopment engineering activities through the production phase. Understands and adheres to program schedule and reports progress as required.
  • Serves as a liaison and coordinates development activities of internal and external resources. Serves as a resource by providing a problem-solving function by initiating action to overcome obstacles as they are encountered.
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts. Researches, recommends, and implements new and/or existing products, processes, materials and equipment. Engages in comparative and competitive analysis to ensure utilization of most appropriate beneficial techniques.
  • Support team effort in benchmarking automotive and non-automotive parts when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as necessary for completion of projects and achievement of departmental goals.
